A Blast From the Past – Restored Classics From the VHS Era
Long before HD cameras, digital workflows, or even DVDs existed, I was lugging around huge Panasonic MS4 SVHS video cameras and shooting my first ever productions. These films come from the early to mid-1990s, quite literally the dawn of time in my world of creating content.
The actual cameras I used, I had 3 of them for my early productions. Resolution from SVHS back in the days was only 768×576 (PAL)
Back then, everything was done on VHS and SVHS tapes, and filmed under regulations that were far stricter than anything we deal with today. What you see in these early movies reflects the allowable levels of the era: much milder, more suggestive, more constrained. One wrong step could have landed you in trouble in the 90s, so these films were created within the limits of the time.
Still, despite those restrictions, they hold a certain charm. They’re the foundations of everything that came later, my early experiments, the style I would eventually refine, and the raw enthusiasm that drove me to create despite the challenges of the era.
I’ve restored these old tapes using a Blackmagic Teranex hardware upscaler, bringing them into the modern world at a 720p resolution. The borders have been cropped, the picture stabilised.

These aren’t 1080p productions, of course, they can’t be. They’re relics from a totally different age. But for collectors, enthusiasts, and anyone who remembers the 90s style… these restorations are a genuine blast from the past.
If you enjoy seeing where it all began, the roots of the themes, characters, and tone you know today, then these restored films are here for you. They’re nostalgic, imperfect, and wonderfully authentic. A small time capsule from an era when creativity had to fight against limitations, and yet somehow, it still shone through.
Please remember, the action in these ‘ancient’ archives is not as strong as current day standards, they are here for collectors who would like to see how things were in ‘ye olden days’
